Our stock varies with each launch. We have stocked the below but we are always looking to add in new substrates.

• 100% organic cotton sateen. Sateen is soft and flow-y, and drapes like a rayon with a very slight sheen. Our sateen is soft enough for garments but firm enough for light craft.

• Organic Cotton Linen. 55% cotton and 45% linen you'll have a hard time believing it's not pure linen. So soft and breathable.

• Mid-weight Cotton Canvas. It's the perfect weight for pants, jackets and overalls. It's got a great drape for a bottom weight and is sure to be a trans-seasonal piece.

• Waterproof PUL. Water resistant and waterproof. It's perfect for raincoats, outdoor pillows, bags and more. It's undergone vigorous testing and it's sure to keep you safe and dry!

• Recycled Swim. Our recycled swim is 93% recycled polyester and 7% stretch/elastane.

Our fabrics are GOTS certified. GOTS is the "Global Organic Textile Standard', a worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

Our manufacturer also prides themselves on their ethical practices, using eco inks, recycled packaging, donating to various NGOs and recycling leftover dyes in their own on-site nursery. You can truly feel at peace knowing your fabrics are created well.

Our packaging is made from biodegradable and compostable materials. We also use recycled paper ribbon to secure our fabrics, sourced from a forest and supply chain that is managed responsibly and sustainably. Our information cards are re-purposable as 'Ellie Whittaker' greeting cards with a quick snip down the centrefold.

We are presently researching even more ethical base fabrics, as well as ways to recycle offcuts and create a circular economy for our customers' garments. We are constantly working on being better.

A clear photo of the scale of each design is included in each listing, so please make sure you check it (we tend to favour LARGE repeats!).

Fabrics are pre-cut so as to maintain accurate stock levels. Where more than one metre is ordered from the drop down menu it will be sent as one continuous piece. However, if two pieces are ordered they cannot be combined to create one continuous piece.

We currently manufacture and sell fabric on our site as well as having designs in Spotlight Australia.

In our wash tests we have experienced imperceptible fading. We use gentle cycles or hand washing and would always recommend a cold, hand wash and dry in the shade before sewing. We also recommend very mild/delicate detergent. Some detergents can cause colour runs. If you're the select few who encounter this simply wash it again with a milder detergent.

If you have multiple outstanding orders in our system, please contact us at admin@elliewhittaker.com.au and we will do our best to accommodate any issues and discrepancies with orders. However, please note we are not able to accommodate combine-order requests at this time.


Shipping within Australia is tracked and a flat rate of $11 or free when you spend over $150 (6m+ at $32/m).

International rates are set by Australia Post and can be calculated at checkout according to quantity/weight. If you'd like to research your country's shipping rates you can use the Australia Post calculator found here.

We ship exclusively with Australia Post. All parcels are tracked. If a parcel delivery attempt is made but your parcel remains unclaimed (and is returned to Ellie Whittaker), you will be liable for the cost of returning the parcel to your home again.


As per the ACCC recommendations, we do not accept returns due to a change in mind. If we send the wrong product or your product is faulty, please contact us directly and we will make arrangements to replace your fabric. We also do not accept exchanges if you have not taken note of the scale or notes on the fabric as a clear photograph and description is provided in the listing.

Our policy lasts 14 days. If 14 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
